I pray this letter finds you all doing well as you walk in the wonderful grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. May He always be lifted up that men will be drawn unto Him. I read something shocking recently. In the United States $75 Billion is spent each year on incarceration. Twenty five percent of the world’s prison population is held in America. That makes us #1; not something you want to be known for.
1 year ago, Rushton’s Hope set out to change that. We launched Philemon’s Hope Ministry in the Spalding County Jail. The goal was to reach prisoners while imprisoned, and assist them upon reentry to help them get their lives back on track. The Lord sent Ken Dills, who had recently been where they are, to lead the way. He understood what they were going through first hand. He and I began to go in and visit with each prisoner personally to hear their stories, and encourage them with hope in Christ. After a few months, I turned it over to Ken fully. Since that time, we have seen many decisions to Christ, and helped as many as possible to start a path of progress upon reentry. Of course, there has been some defeat among the victories, but there is no success without failure. And just as Jesus taught us to leave the 99 to go after the 1, Ken presses on it. His wife Phyllis has also been a great support assisting Ken in many ways.
Ministry such as this, like all Benevolence ministries, requires many resources: Food, Toiletries, Housing, Transportation, Medical, Securing ID, Job Opportunities, to list a few. Dan, Ron, Josh, and many others want to thank you for your support that made such assistance possible; impacting lives with Hope in Christ! We also thank you, and pray for you that the Lord will continue to multiply your blessings as you bless others!
In Christ,
Pastor Ron Cook
